The
Blue Ridge Forest Cooperative is actively seeking new members.
To
be a member, you must:
be
a resident of Virginia
own
a minimum of 10 acres of forest land
purchase
one share of common stock in the BRFC (current price = $500)
have
an interest in sustainable forest management
Trees are directionally felled and bucked into lengths to minimize
waste.

A Biltmore stick is used to measure the volume of standing
timber
BRFC
has 14 members with 2500 acres under management. All the members
have income generation as an objective; however it’s no
member’s top objective. Typically it’s third or
fourth, with aesthetics, habitat management, and recreation
ahead of it.
