Who?

The Blue Ridge Forest Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative serving forest landowners.

What?

The Blue Ridge Forest Cooperative is a group of landowners and investors incorporated for the purpose of adding value to members' timberland through sustainable forest management, low-impact harvesting, and local primary and secondary forest products processing. Additional value is realized by the independent, third-party, chain-of-custody certification through the Forest Stewardship Council.

How?

The Blue Ridge Forest Cooperative pools membership demand for timber stand improvement (as opposed to diameter limit cutting = high grading), and low-impact harvesting (with minimal damage to the residual stand). These forest management practices are then certified sustainable by the Forest Stewardship Council. Primary and secondary processing is completed locally, and certified forest products are sold in local markets throughout the region.

Where?

The Blue Ridge Forest Cooperative serves forest landowners in Southern Blue Ridge of Virginia. We are based in Montgomery County, Virginia, and our current area of focus includes the following Virginia Counties: Montgomery, Roanoke, Botetourt, Craig, Giles, Floyd, Pulaski, Carroll, Grayson, and Wythe.

Why?

The Blue Ridge Forest Cooperative formed to give members more flexibility and control in their implementation of sustainable forest management practices recommended by forestry experts.
